As the long balmy evenings (!) become a distant memory, it seems about time for an Oldtimer Services blog while we’re enjoying the momentary lull following a very hectic few months. This summer we didn’t notice the usual quietening off during the holiday season when owners normally take their precious cars out of storage for some summer motoring. Instead this year, many cars didn’t leave us at all, possibly the unpredictable climate was partly responsible for this trend?
As we do every year, Oldtimer Services provided mechanical support services to groups of classic car enthusiasts on their adventures around Europe. We had a wonderful time exploring the mountains overlooking the French Riviera with a regular group of clients from Belgium. Between them, they have a superb selection of motor cars which we’re always very privileged to look after. Unfortunately two other motoring tours to Tuscany and Norway which we had been booked to assist were cancelled this year due to unforeseen circumstances. However this was to be a blessing in some ways as the demand for our transportation services remained strong over the summer and kept us occupied, including several tips into Europe which proved challenging with the unfortunate Migrant situation disrupting our preferred method for crossing the channel.
In addition to storage and transportation of classic and modern vehicles, Oldtimer Services offers a towing service to the promotion and events sector and this summer saw us undertake a nine week tour around the south of England throughout June and July. Proving to be a resounding success, we are now in talks about further tours for the same client over the coming months.
So now we are preparing for the winter season and the influx of vehicles coming to us for storage. Our workshop is geared up for the pre-winter checks, the trailers are hitched up and poised to collect from far and wide and the storage units are perfectly acclimatised, ready to receive vehicles of all shapes and sizes.
Looking forward to meeting new cars (and customers) soon…
